It all started with an earnest idea from our founder Bob. While on a hike through the beautifully wooded trails of Michigan, he suddenly noticed that there were sticks everywhere. Where had these sticks come from, he marveled? Had they always been there? What was the meaning of it all?

He decided to investigate further, and suddenly saw a world of sticks scattered across the forest floor. Dozens, maybe even more! Some had bite marks from wild animals, others had been worn down by relentless rain and snow. Unnoticed, trodden upon, and suffering. What would happen to them? Who would take care of them? As their Mommy and Daddy trees looked down in anger, Bob collected 3 triplet sticks from the forest floor that day and carried them home. There, he nursed them all back to health, in the very room his fiancé had used as an office for her MLM business before she left him.

Bob found that each stick had a story, a history, and a character all its own. He turned pain into triumph. He had found his calling. He tried to tell everyone that there were sticks everywhere, but was met with silence. Eventually, he realized there was only one place where he could find like-minded people confidently united in mental struggle: the internet. Excited to share his newfound mission with others, he created an online platform where people could help sponsor and rehabilitate these natural treasures.

The organization slowly grew. But Bob’s mission was soon complicated by a feeling. That need to help sticks was still there, of course. But there was something else and it was quite human—the desire to domesticate his new friends. The (platonic) longing to make them companions—in other words, pets. Bob decided to unite his two passions in Stick Pet. Today, Stick Pet runs a rehabilitation center for sticks and educates the public on how to domesticate them. We hope that one of these missions speaks to you today.
